By definition, Physical activity - according to Wikipedia encyclopedia - is any bodily exercise that enhances or maintains physical fitness and overall health or wellness. It is performed for various reasons.

The most common reasons for doing physical activities is for strengthening muscles and the cardiovascular system, honing athletic skills,weight loss or maintenance and for enjoyment. Frequent and regular physical exercise boosts the immune system, and helps prevent the "diseases of affluence" such as heart disease, cardiovascular disease, type 2 diabetes and obesity. It also improves mental health, helps prevent depression, helps to promote or maintain positive self-esteem, and can even augment an individual's sex appeal or body image. We're in an era where Childhood obesity is a growing global concern and physical exercise may help decrease the effects of children obesity in developed countries.

The Benefits of Physical Activity

Some people exercise to lose weight. Some exercise because it allows them to feel good, to reduce stress and even for competitions. Others just love to sweat.

But of all the reasons to be physically active, there is one that tops it all: it is to "live younger" even as we get older. In fact, by following the steps I’m going to show you... The result in men who exercise right is that they live 8 years younger and women who do so live 9 years younger.

Of course, an important reason to exercise is that it will help you lose weight and keep it off. Being physically active, even a little, in small doses, has an effect not only on your appearance but also on how your joints feel.

We all know and value extreme exercise, whether it’s for the thrills, glory or emotional satisfaction BUT you won’t be protecting your bones, joints, and muscles from the deterioration associated with aging. In fact, you’ll be doing it at their expense.
